Cookies and storage
Cookies are small text files a website saves in your browser. Browser storage (localStorage and sessionStorage) is a related technology that lets a site keep information on your device. Skull & Ski mainly uses browser storage rather than cookies.
What we store
| Key | Type | Purpose | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
ski.profiles.v1 | localStorage | Profiles on this browser: name, display name, Powder Coin balance, progress and rewards | Until site data is cleared |
ski.activePlayer.v1 | localStorage | Which profile is logged in | Until you log out or clear site data |
ski.settings.v1 | localStorage | Preferences such as break reminders | Until site data is cleared |
ski.view | localStorage | Whether you prefer cards or list view on the Games page | Until site data is cleared |
ski.cookieNotice.v1 | localStorage | Remembers that you've seen the cookie notice | Until site data is cleared |
ski.session.v1 | sessionStorage | When this visit started and minutes played | Until the tab is closed |
All of these are needed for the site to work. None are used for advertising or to track you on other websites.
Third parties
Fonts come from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address and browser details when they load. Our host may set strictly necessary technical cookies for security or performance. The embedded games are served from our own domain and share the site's browser storage so they can use your Powder Coins.
Managing storage
You can view and delete cookies and site data in your browser settings — look for "Cookies and site data", "Site settings" or "Clear browsing data". Clearing data for skullandski.com logs you out and permanently removes your profile, coins and progress on that browser. Blocking storage completely may stop joining and rewards from working.
